Jadon Sancho and Mason Mount rewarded with call-ups in Gareth Southgate’s England Squad


Gareth Southgate has just announced his squad to face Spain and Croatia respectively in the UEFA Nations League next week with a hat trick young lions from home and abroad and a familiar face making the cut.

Jadon Sancho has been rewarded for his excellent Bundesliga form for Borussia Dortmund with his first ever senior international call up.



The former Manchester City academy product has recorded one goal and eight assists in all competitions so far this season and gives Southgate a much needed option for creativity on the left wing.

Chelsea loanee Mason Mount who’s inclusion will come as a surprise to many following his move to Frank Lampard’s Derby County.

The midfielder has started well for The Rams registering five goals and one assist in all competitions as well as playing a key role in Derby County’s victory over Manchester United in the EFL Cup

Leicester City’s James Maddison has also received his first call up following his impressive start to life in the Premier League following his summer move from Norwich City. Having already created five goals for The Foxes in the Premier League, Maddisons set piece ability will be a valuable weapon in England’s arsenal. 

Chelsea’s Ross Barkley makes his return to the squad following a two year absence due to injury and poor form. The former Evertonian will be keen to show Southgate what he’s been missing especially given the new crop of Young Lions who will no doubt be eyeing up his place in the side.

Loftus-Cheek has failed to retain his World Cup place having only played 33 minutes of football for Chelsea since returning from his loan spell at Crystal Palace last season, meanwhile Tottenham’s Dele Alli and Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard miss out through injury.
