Anti-Social Media: can we fix it?

Research by UCLan academic Amy Binns has been included in a major book on the problems of social media, launched at the Frontline Club, London.

Legal campaigner Gina Miller spoke at the event about her own experiences on social media when she took the Government to court over Brexit legislation. The UCLan research analysed thousands of tweets sent to her, uncovering multiple death threats.

The book, Anti Social Media, also includes research by Dr Amy Binns and Dr Martin Bateman on abuse of MPs on Twitter, analysing exactly what makes some MPs a target.

The book has been published by Abramis in partnership with the Institute of Communication Ethics. It includes contributions by Alan Rusbridger, Raymond Snoddy, Sir Peter Bazalgette, Gina Miller, Shami Chakrabarti, Phil Harding, Christopher Graham and others.
