If you’re struggling to find ways to keep the kids entertained this Christmas then fear not, for below is a handy compilation of all the festive on-goings. There are also events to cater for adults as well as children.

Santa’s Post Box at Brockholes

Saturday 17th November

Write your letter to Santa at Brockholes before heading off on a winter walk to Santa’s Post Box!

Make sure that you find the secret North Pole Stamp on route or your letter won’t make it to Lapland!

Letter packs include a letter template and envelope, a Brockholes Pencil, full instructions and a trail map to help you find the special North Pole Stamp and Santa’s Post Box plus a voucher for a hot chocolate in the Reedbed Restaurant on your return.

Letter packs are priced at £5.00 for online orders (available until 11.45pm the day before) or from their Welcome Centre on the day at £6.00 per pack.

Santa will reply to your letter (we’ve checked!)

The route is pram friendly

Come dressed for the weather wearing sturdy footwear. The trail is outdoors on the reserve.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Breakfast with Santa at Brockholes

Saturday 1st December

Join Santa for a magical morning in the Brockholes Restaurant!

Children can enjoy a full cooked breakfast followed by a very special visit by Santa, who will be bearing a gift for each child.

Children’s breakfast includes bacon, scrambled eggs, beans, toast and orange juice or milk to drink.

Adult tickets include a full 8 item cooked breakfast with tea or coffee and free parking for the full day.

Vegetarian options are available.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Ticket sales will end at 12.00noon the day before the event.

Doors open at 9.00am, ready for breakfast service at 9.15am.



Santa’s Grotto at Brockholes

Saturday 1st December.

Santa is back at Brockholes. Come and meet him in our magical Christmas Grotto!

Each child will receive a present from Santa and there will be an opportunity for you to take photographs.

Santa is always popular, so make sure you to pre-book your appointment early!

Appointments are available between 11.30am and 3.00pm, in 30-minute time slots, so if you book the 11.30am – 12.00 noon time slot you will see Santa sometime in that 30 minutes.

All children require a ticket to see Santa regardless of age. Book an under 3’s ticket if required to ensure that children receive an age appropriate present.

All children must be accompanied by an adult. There is no charge for accompanying adults.

The Grotto will be in their floating Visitor Village and sign posted for you.

St Catherine’s Christmas Festival

Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd December

St Catherine’s most fabulously festive weekend will be bursting with seasonal stalls, delicious food and drink, great quality entertainment, and much more.

Their Christmas Festival will feature a host of festive fun for all the family!

Winckley Square Christmas Concert

Why not get into the Christmas spirit by singing carols around the tree at the Christmas Concert on Sunday 2nd December 3.30-6.30pm.

If the singing alone doesn’t keep you warm there’s always the mulled wine and hot chocolate!

Join the traditional Christmas Carols with St Stephens Choir followed by the One Voice Community Choir.

The event is free to attend and open to everyone.



Breakfast with Santa at Lakeside Coffee House

Friday 7th december

This year our popular Santa event is back and better than ever. We’re expecting a quick sell out so book quick!

Why come to us ?

  • Free on-site parking – less walking for little legs !
  • Intimate and friendly setting- meaning if your little one is a little shy they get a lot more time to come round to Santa.
  • Each table is taken up to see Santa in an allocated time frame- with the opportunity to visit him again once everyone has been up.
  • Opportunity to take your own photos – or ask us to take one of you all!
  • Each table includes activities such as colouring and letters to Santa
  • Reindeer dust to take home – make sure you save it for Christmas Eve !
  • Each ticket includes age appropriate food includes – dietary requirements catered for.

Wreath Making

Saturday 8th December

10.00am – 12.00 noon & then 1.00pm – 3.00pm

£6.00 per wreath, pay on the door

All materials and equipment will be provided to make a stunning wreath from natural materials, plus lots of ideas to get you started!

There is no need to book, just come along!

Things may get a little messy, so come dressed with that in mind!

St Catherine’s Santa Dash

Sunday 9th December

The annual fun-filled sponsored Santa Dash will be held at a brand-new location this year!

Join in for a three-mile jog around the iconic Preston Docks at 11am for the ever-popular festive fun run!

Don a red suit, hat and beard and join fellow Santas in raising as much as possible for St Catherine’s Hospice this Christmas.

The Santa Dash is open to anyone aged 12 and over, and costs just £10 per adult and £5 for under 18s to sign up, which includes your suit.



Christmas Festevil

December 14th and 15th 2018

‘Wreck the halls’ this Christmas season as Scare Kingdom Scream Park presents its annual Christmas FestEVIL event.

Featuring 3 scare attraction experiences, Christmas FestEVIL is the ultimate alternative holiday treat for fearless families, thrill-seeking adrenaline junkies and courageous kids!

Scare Kingdom Scream Park is located at Mrs Dowson’s Farm Park, the home of Mrs. Dowson’s Ice Cream, minutes from the M6 junction 31 on the A59 near Preston and Blackburn in Lancashire, UK.



Festive Murder Mystery

Friday 14th December

“In a picturesque village, rehearsals are underway for the annual Christmas pantomime, to be performed at the 14th Century Samlesbury Hall… Sadly, tragedy has struck and the body of the director and local parish priest, Father Chris Moss, has been found in the Hall! Is it natural causes or is it murder? Oh no it’s not, Oh yes it is!!”

Tickets for the evening, including a three-course dinner and a one night’s stay in the Shepherd’s Hut Hamlet, with breakfast the following morning.

The price is £70 per person (based on two sharing).



Bigfoot – Merry Riffmas

Saturday 15th December

Join rock band Bigfoot at UCLan’s 53 Degrees venue for a night of rock.

Minimum age is 16.

The event is between 7pm and 11pm

Soulful Sessions Christmas Soiree

Saturday 15th December

Club Sugar Entertainments invite you to kick start the festive season in style at their Soulful Sessions Christmas Soiree.

The event will take over 3 Levels in Preston’s stunning grade 2 listed building: Fives.

Lancashire Sings Christmas Carol Service

Thursday 20th December

Doors open at 6.30pm ready for a 7.00pm start

Free of charge

Join the carol service by the fire for one of the highlights of their Christmas programme, the annual Christmas Carol service on their floating Visitor Village.

The service will link up with a broadcast on Radio Lancashire and will feature many well-known carols.

Seasonal refreshments will be available to purchase on the night.

A perfect start to your Christmas festivities!

Car parking is free of charge for those attending on the evening. Your car registration number will be asked for on arrival at the service in order to process this.



Aladdin – Christmas Panto (Leyland)
