The Beach Hut Coffee Shop on Preston Marina has opened its doors to pet dogs again this Christmas.

It’s the second year the hut has opened its doors to dogs. Suzanne Cameron, director at Preston Marina, said: “It started (last) December by accident to be honest.

“It was a very cold day and a couple of our regular customers had a beautiful Labrador dog, Marley, and it was just too cold for them to sit outside.

“So we said, ‘let’s let Marley in’, so we did and then we put it on Facebook and it just snowballed from there.”

Dogs are more than welcome to have a bite to eat.

The Doggy Diner has its own menu, featuring rashers of bacon, pork sausages and doggy ice cream.

The diner itself has been allocated its own space within the coffee shop to accommodate customers who don’t like dogs.

The diner has been very well received by dogs and owners alike seeking refuge from Preston’s biting winter weather.

Suzanne added: “When it’s cold outside, it’s nice that you can have a walk around the dock and then bring your doggy here and then they can enjoy a treat as well.”

The Beach Hut Coffee Shop can be found on The Crescent at Preston Docks.
