Home-schooling figures in Lancashire for secondary education have risen dramatically over the past 10 years.

A Freedom of Information request from UCLan live has revealed that in the last decade the number of students being home-educated for their secondary education has increased from 387 in academic year 2009-2010 to 1,106 in the current academic year.

Biba Lyncheaun, from Clitheroe, is home schooling her daughter Tabitha, four, and will tutor toddler Lola, after researching how the system works and looking into the benefits.

Biba plans to continue home-schooling her children until they have finished their A-Levels but she will let them attend formal schooling if the children would like to ‘experience school’.
