Two women were rescued after getting stuck in swampy ground at Longton Marsh.
The woman called police after getting into difficulty at the Marsh, close to the River Ribble, at 1.30pm on Sunday.
Fire crews from Penwortham, Tarleton and Lancaster were alerted by police and arrived on scene shortly after.
Crews used a rescue sledge to help the women to safety and they were checked over by paramedics after stepping on to dry land.
The two women were uninjured and are now safe and well at home.
John Taylor, spokesman for Lancashire Fire and Rescue has issued a warning, he said: “Luckily the two women had their mobile phone to call 999, remember the marshy ground might not bear your weight and you could get stuck in there.”
