Exciting news for Lancashire’s music scene, as indie rockers Foals announce Blackpool as one of their 2020 tour dates.
The band were met with a wave of comments from excited fans as they made the announcement across their various social media platforms, with one fan writing “Foals playing in Blackpool YESSSSS.”
The Oxford band release the highly anticipated second part to their album – Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost this month. If fans pre-order it, they can gain early access to tickets.
Cardiff, Edinburgh, London and Birmingham were also announced, meaning Blackpool stands alone as the only town to be visited by the band.
The venue of the gig has not yet been confirmed. However, speculations centre upon the Empress Ballroom at the Winter Gardens, which has hosted a number of bands including The Vaccines, Stereophonics and Blur.
Blackpool’s popular music venue, Bootleg Social will be hosting an after show. Steve Skilly, one of the bar’s owners, talked about the prospect of the band playing there. He said: “Occasionally we get bands down to Bootleg to do after show DJ sets, we’re currently working on the feasibility of this.”
Steve also described what a great opportunity it is for Blackpool, he said: “It’s great to be getting such exciting bands visiting our little seaside town. It will bring so many people here. ”
