Labour’s campaign launch in Blackpool North is to be attended by comedian and activist Eddie Izzard, this Saturday.

The campaign launch, for newlywed Labour hopeful Chris Webb is open to all at 10am at the Devonshire Road Rock Gardens, Bispham. Supporters can sign up to attend.

The Blackpool North and Cleveleys seat is an important Conservative-held marginal seat, with a majority of only 2,023 votes, which both Labour and Tory candidates are vigorously campaigning in.

Labour is hoping to unseat Conservative MP Paul Maynard, who won the seat from Labour in 2010 after a boundary change.

Brexit Party and Liberal Democrat candidates Jon Conway and Sue Close are also running.

Izzard has a lot history of involvement with the Labour party, both running for official positions and campaigning in previous elections.

The activist has recently been doing an international comedy tour ‘Wunderbar’, which he will be continuing in Manchester that evening.

An unknown shadow cabinet member is also going to attend the campaign launch as a surprise guest, according to a Labour party spokesman.
