England face Montenegro tonight in their Group A Euro 2020 qualifier without star man Raheem Sterling, the City man axed after a scuffle with Liverpool defender Joe Gomez.

England will be looking to cement their place at the tournament with a win, after a shock defeat to the Czech Republic derailed their promotion push in the last international break.

England fell to a 2-1 defeat in Prague, and then had the highly controversial clash with Bulgaria where Tyrone Mings was subjected to racist abuse throughout the game, before eventually running out 6-0 winners.

England are likely to field a similar side to the one which beat Bulgaria last time out, with the exceptions of Sterling and Ross Barkley, who is injured.

Jadon Sancho is expected to replace Sterling, whilst Mason Mount may regain his place in the starting 11 due to the absence of Chelsea teammate Barkley.

This will be a special game for the Three Lions as it’s the men’s 1000th international match, and players will be wearing special shirts, with their legacy numbers.

Southgate’s side need just one point from their next two games to secure their place at next summer’s European Championships.

The Three Lion’s are heavy favourites to win this one, with SkyBet offering odds of 1/12 for an England victory, and 28/1 for Montenegro to cause the upset.

Tonight’s game will be shown live on ITV1, with coverage beginning at 7pm.
