Preston could soon see two new microbars opening up in the area.

The Tap End and the Tulketh Tap Room are planned to open just yards from the well-established Lane Ends Pub on Blackpool Road.

Preston has recently seen in a rise in the number of microbars, with at least five in the city already.

These include the Guild Ale House on Lancaster Road, the Plug and Taps on Lune Street and the Market Ale House in Leyland.

According to a planning statement, The Tulketh Tap Room is planning on moving into the former Salvador clinic across the road from the Lane Ends pub. The micropub is intending to draw “a more mature crowd in search of a traditional small pub atmosphere.”

The Tap End, planned to open in the former Robby’s card and balloon store, wants to provide “an ambient and respectful atmosphere, away from the mainstream drinking trends. The bar will offer local residents an alternative environment to the traditional pub atmosphere.”

The Tap End has already been granted 4pm-9pm on Monday to Thursday, 4pm-10pm Friday and midday to 10pm Saturday.
