Coronavirus outbreak, flights face cancellation

With the global outbreak of coronavirus, countries are closing their borders. Airlines canceled most flights because of travel restrictions.

Virgin Atlantic will cut four-fifths of its flights. Ryanair and EasyJet are grounding most of their fleets, while BA owner IAG is to cut capacity by 75%. In addition, Norwegian Air has cancelled thousands of flights and will temporarily lay off more than 7,500 staff. (Source: BBC News)

Most universities in Britain are closed, many international students plan to return home. But air fares are very high at the moment and most of them already face ticket cancellations.

Here are some international students in Preston talking about their experience.

Jiachen Zhu, a international student at UCLan, said:” No one told me why my ticket was cancelled, it was just cancelled.”

Some people who had already bought tickets are also became worried when they heard that their friends’ tickets had been canceled.

Other international students decided to stay in the UK and self-quarantine after seeing news of some cancelled flights.
