Stockport County travel to Grosenvor Vale as they face Wealdstone FC, the first meeting between the two clubs.
The home side are still searching for their first three points of the season with last weekend’s result seeing them narrowly lose 1-0 away at Dagenham and Redbridge.
The Hatters currently sit 6th in the National League going into tonight’s clash and are hoping to replicate the thumping 3-0 win against Dover.
Contrastingly, The Stones are just above the relegation places, picking up just one point in their first three league games.
Stockport’s only loss this campaign came away from home against Torquay United which was their first game of the season. However, it’s fair to say Jim Gannon’s side have reacted expertly since the loss.
Speaking to the club’s website, Gannon side: “There’s a great positivity about the group.
“To go behind (against Halifax), the lads showed not only great character but turning the emotion around in a positive way was fantastic.”
The home side are hosting their first ever National League game tonight after they were promoted from the National League South as champions last campaign.
Despite being winless in three, the two games Wealdstone have lost in have only been by one goal, showing this won’t be an easy game for Gannon’s men.
“From what I’ve seen of them, they look a very competitive side which bring a lot of qualities to the league”, said Gannon on the club’s website.
Stockport will be hoping midfielder John Rooney can carry on his scoring form after his brace at the weekend.
The former Barrow and Bury man has scored two goals in three league games and will be looking to add to his tally tonight.
This is County’s fourth game in just 10 days and will be kicking off at 19:45 at Grosvenor Vale tonight.
