EFL DEADLINE DAY: Live transfer updates

Nathan Ridley takes you through the day’s North-West activity

17:12 – SIGNING OFF

Thank you to anyone who’s joined us at some point today and we hope you enjoyed our live domestic deadline day coverage full of drama and dry humour.

I’m off out before I get locked in.

Cheers!

17:10 – LATICS LAST

We started with Pete O’Rourke so we’ll end with him.

Oldham appear to be on the cusp of completing the signing of Arsenal defender Harry Clarke on loan.

Could Blackburn do the same will Harvey Elliott?

17:06 – LEAVING IT LATE

Blackpool have signed Australian midfielder Kenny Dougall on a two-year contract.

The 27-year-old recently left Barnsley and his career has seen him ply his trade down under, in the Netherlands and at Oakwell.

17:03 – WATCH OUT FOR WILSON

Harry Wilson could make his debut for Cardiff City at Deepdale on Sunday against Preston North End after his loan move was announced by Liverpool.

17:00 – YORKSHIRE TO CUMBRIA

No wonder Huddersfield were interested in Nugent, Carlisle have secured the services of their young Micah Obiero, who is a ‘wide attacker’ according to Blackpool-born boss Chris Beech.

17:00 – THE TRANSFER WINDOW IS CLOSED

Don’t go anywhere, though!

*frantically refreshes Twitter*

16:55 – PREPARE FOR PLENTY OF POSTS

As much as it’d be nice for me to dart off at 17:00, we’re expecting news regarding a host of signings on the 5pm dot when the window slams shut until January.

16:52 – BIT OF BARTON

Following another experienced signing today, Fleetwood Town manager Joey Barton has had his say on Blackburn loanee Charlie Mulgrew.

Is that your deal of the day? Let us know who yours is on Twitter, @UCLanLive.

16:48 – THAT SIGNING WILL BE (SQUARE)PANTS

12 minutes to go and I didn’t expect us to have Spongebob teasing a Carlisle United signing for our climax but here we are!

We should know by 17:00…

16:43 – NUGENT MOVEMENT?

The Lancashire Evening Post’s Preston North End reporter Dave Seddon has revealed some late news regarding a much-loved man at Deepdale.

Former Bury and England striker David Nugent (I hope UCLan Live’s Tom Rawcliffe appreciated that) has been subject to a loan enquiry from fellow Championship side Huddersfield Town.

16:35 – STILL HOPE FOR PNE?

Although Alex Neil’s men have been quiet today, Sunday’s opponents Cardiff haven’t.

However, Harry Wilson’s move has still not officially been announced and Pete O’Rouke has another titbit but the pair face a race against time to register for the match.

16:22 – ONE OUT OF THE BLUE?

It seems as if Carlisle are still searching for striking options and News & Star reporter Jon Colman has probably had a longer day than me waiting for the Cumbrians to make an announcement.

He has revealed it’s his understanding that the player in their sights is NOT Derby County’s Jahmal Hector-Ingram.

16:01 – DI’SHON DOES GET A LOAN

We let you know about the possibility of Di’Shon Bernard leaving Old Trafford on loan earlier and Salford City have snapped up his signature.

The 19-year-old centre-back made his debut in the Red Devils’ 2-1 loss to Astana last year and featured at the Peninsula this season when United’s U23s beat Ammies in the EFL Trophy in September.

16:00 – ONE HOUR TO GO

Bring on the countdown…

15:49 – UNITED POUNCE FOR POGBA EXTENSION

Following more public flirting with the idea of moving to Real Madrid last week, Manchester United have triggered their clause to extend Paul Pogba’s contract at Old Trafford.

Sorry, EFL clubs. A big-money move doesn’t seem likely now.

15:41 – TANGERINE REUINION

Ben Woodburn has completed his temporary move to Blackpool, reuniting with former Liverpool youth coach Neil Critchley.

Happy with that, ‘Pool fans?

15:09 – ELLIOTT EDGING TO EWOOD?

What a day it’s turning out to be for Blackburn fans!

Paul Joyce has another development in the Harvey Elliott story.

15:00 – IT IS A DUNN DEAL!

Barrow have added Birmingham City forward Jayden Reid to their squad on loan.

The 19-year-old former Manchester United youngster won’t be invovled in tomorrow’s trip to Harrogate but will instead link up with his new teammates on Monday at their Middleton training ground.

14:42 – BARROW NOT DUNN YET?

David Dunn’s right-hand man, Rob Kelly – a former Blackburn youth coach – has revealed the Bluebirds could swoop for one more signing to bring to Holker Street before the window shuts.

14:33 – MULGREW MAKES A MOVE TO TOWN

And how about that to get us back going? Former Wigan Athletic defender Charlie Mulgrew has signed for Fleetwood from Blackburn.

A statement of promotion intent from Joey Barton?

They welcome Lincoln City to Highbury tomorrow.

14:25 – ALL QUIET ON THE NORTH-WESTERN FRONT

Things seem to have died down in terms of concrete news.

We know Carlisle, Blackburn and Blackpool are all interested players, the question is whether they’ll get their targets over the line before the deadline in just over two and a half hours.

13:46 – HELLO HARVEY?

Reporters around Merseyside, including the reliable Paul Joyce, are reporting that Blackburn (yes, them again) are interested signing Harvey Elliott on loan from Liverpool.

Would you take him, Ewood faithful?

13:28 – DI’SHON DEPARTING?

Manchester United have an abundance of youngsters yearning for first-team football, especially at the heart of defence.

Manchester Evening News reporter Rich Fay says that Di’Shon Bernard, who turned 20 on Wednesday, could be on his way out.

Could that be to a club on our patch? We’ll let you know if so!

13:16 – NOTE TO NORTH-WEST CLUBS

Don’t call Barry Fry if you’re trying to prize away any of Peterborough’s players!

13:09 – ROUND-UP

Here’s some of the day’s deals so far:

  • Jamie Devitt – Blackpool to Newport County (half-season loan)
  • Barry Douglas – Leeds United to Blackburn Rovers (season-long loan)
  • Tom Trybull – Norwich City to Blackburn Rovers (season-long loan)

And some rumours to keep an eye on:

  • Yannick Bolasie – Everton to Blackburn Rovers
  • Harry Wilson – Liverpool to Cardiff City (season-long loan)

13:01 – A SIGNING OF SORTS

One to please the Burnley fans – Dwight McNeil has signed a new deal at Turf Moor which runs until June 2024 with the option of an extra year.

He joins Ashley Westwood and Ben Mee in committing their futures to the club in recent weeks.

12:53 – BUSINESS IS BLOOM-ING

What a coup this could be for Critchley and co. 10-time Wales international and highly-acclaimed Liverpool youngster Ben Woodburn has been linked with a switch up the coastline to Bloomfield Road by Goal’s Neil Jones.

A one to watch as we approach four hours to go!

No apologies for that pun, by the way.

12:17 – DEADLINE DAY YELLOW

Burnley and Umbro have chosen a good day to reveal their third kit.

Someone let Jim White know!

12:05 – PROMOTION PROSPECT NO. 2

The dressing room at Ewood Park has some serious experience now.

Blackburn supporters, is promotion a realistic target?

11:59 – SPRECHEN SIE DEUTSCHE?

This has to be Tom Trybull… Right?

11:54 – BURNLEY BOSS BELIEVES

In his press conference for Burnley’s trip to West Brom on Monday, Sean Dyche has spoken about his squad after weeks of transfer frustration.

“You do forget we’ve some very good players here. Do we want to freshen it, bring players in, or would I have done? Yes I would. You need to know what’s available to do that, both players and finance – that’s always a bit tricky here.

“But I don’t forget the group that I’ve got, the quality and depth in experience particularly, not always numbers, of the group I’ve got here. I certainly believe this group is more than capable, and now it’s about showing it on the pitch and getting results.”

11:30 – DEVITT DEAL DONE

Ex-Shrimp Jamie Devitt has completed his move to Wales on loan from Blackpool until January and could feature against Tranmere tomorrow.

That man really loves a coastal spot.

11:18 – PLEASURE BEACH OR BLOOMFIELD ROAD

Blackpool Gazette reporter Matt Scrafton has highlighted the transfer merry-go-round at the club since Neil Critchely arrives.

He’ll be hoping his signings fare better…

11:02 – WHAT THE HEC?

No messing from Carlisle today.

Classic Cumbrian stuff!

11:00 – THE SCOTT SIGNS

It was indeed Barry Douglas!

Glad I covered myself there.

10:57 – TRYING TO TEASE US?

Potential arrival from East Anglia inbound at Ewood Park, Rovers fans…

Unless it’s former Championship promotion expert Barry Douglas, who has also been linked with a move.

10:52 – CRITCHLEY’S COMMENTS

Blackpool boss Neil Critchley returns to former club Crewe Alexandra tomorrow and he’s been speaking to BBC Radio Lancashire ahead of the game.

Could either team strengthen before 17:00?

10:38 – WILSON HEADING BACK TO WALES

The Athletic’s Liverpool correspondent James Pearce has an update on the Harry Wilson loan deal which could see him play against Preston North End on Sunday.

This looks to be close to an official announcement.

10:35 – AGREE, EFL FOLLOWERS?

We’ve heard Ole Gunnar Solskjær talk about protecting smaller clubs before and he’s doubled-down on his view following this week’s ‘Project Big Picture’ saga.

Watch it here.

10:32 – NOT THE DONE DEAL WE WANTED TO SEE

An important note to anyone reading.

Wonder if the £42m will be instalments or not? Ed Woodward might know.

10:26 – MOWBRAY HOPING TO BEAT HIS OLD ‘BORO?

Our unwitting Blackburn correspondent Pete O’Rourke is back with some news from Ewood Park.

He claims Tony Mowbray’s side are looking at Everton outcast Yannick Bolasie but the boss’ old North-East club are in pole position.

Will it be Rovers or Riverside for the tricky winger?

10:15 – BYE, BYE BLOOMFIELD?

Blackpool play-maker Jamie Devitt has long been rumoured to depart the Seasiders before the season begins, especially after not being allocated a squad number for Neil Critchely’s men.

After links of a return to Carlisle United or switch to David Dunn’s Barrow, a rumour of him heading to Newport County surfaced online this week and Exiles boss Michael Flynn has hinted at some in-comings today which could include the former Morecambe man.

09:48 – ANY CHANCE, OLE?

There were strong rumours to suggest Manchester United would make a move for a Championship player this summer but it does seem unlikely.

However, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjær might get a cheeky question regarding any potential ins or outs connected to the EFL in his press conference which starts soon.

09:28 – GET IN TOUCH

This Fleetwood fan is optimistic today!

If you support a North-West club that could make a signing today, let us know who you’re hoping for by tweeting us @UCLanLive or @Nathan_UCLan_.

09:21 – A MOVE FOR PNE FANS TO WATCH

Liverpool winger Harry Wilson has been linked with a move away from Anfield all summer and he looks set to return to Wales with Cardiff City.

If a deal goes through today, he should be eligible to face Preston North End on Sunday at Deepdale (kick-off 12:00)

09:18 – WISE WORDS?

We haven’t mentioned it yet but Premier League clubs can deal with EFL outfits until the deadline, following last night’s unsuccessful rescue package deal between the two organisations.

This is what Salford City co-owner Gary Neville had to say.

09:14 – NOT JUST NEW SIGNINGS

Macclesfield FC are a ‘new’ club on patch after Town’s winding-up order and head of football Robbie Savage has unveiled their badge below.

09:09 – ROVERS MAKING AN EARLY START

We were expecting some news from Ewood Park today and it seems as if we’ll get that imminently!

The ever-reliable Pete O’Rourke has reported that a loan deal for Norwich City’s German holding midfielder Tom Trybull has been sealed.

09:00 – Hello
