We have now entered step 2 of the Coronavirus lockdown easing, with everyone in England being able to do more things.

Things you can do from today:

1.Go shopping for a new outfit!

For the first time in months you can step inside a clothes shop, although trying clothes on is still not allowed.

In addition to this all other non-essential retail and hairdresser & nail salons are opening for those that have been waiting!

Preston Markets is now fully open with all store holders, and the outdoor and second-hand market opening this week too, so why don’t you support local.

2. Dig your swimming costume out as pools are open!

From today you are allowed to go to swimming pools, spas, gyms and leisure centres.

Face coverings do not have to be worn when exercising however group classes cannot start back yet, and for those heading to spas, steam rooms and saunas cannot open until May 17th.

Fulwood leisure centre is open, but pre-booking and other points are required, for example coming ‘swim ready’.

3. Have a drink at the pub

Now you’ve shopped for a new outfit and been swimming for the first time in months, you can finish it off with a pint, but in the beer garden.

You are allowed to attend in the rule of 6 or two households, and don’t have to order a substantial meal to have a drink. Be sure to check websites and ring ahead as some pubs require booking.

Local place to visit: The Anderton Arms in Preston… Be sure to bring your coat though as it is still April!

Other places that are opening are outdoor attractions such as zoos and theme parks, as well as being allowed to go to self-catering holidays. Care homes are now also allowing two (named) visitors.
