Christmas by the sea: festive trams set to arrive in Blackpool

This weekend passengers in Blackpool will be welcomed aboard Christmas themed trams and transported on mini tours along the seafront.

The trams will run from the North Pier and Heritage Tower tram stop, along the Golden Mile, to the Pleasure Beach and back again.

They will run every Friday and Saturday from 1 to 29 December as part of the town’s winter festivities.

Each tram tour will last around 25 minutes and will depart every 45 minutes from 5pm until 8pm.

Tickets can be booked online using the Heritage Tram Tours website and will cost just £5 for adults and £2.50 for children.

Aiming to combine Blackpool’s traditional charm with some festive cheer, there will also be a special letterbox on board for children to post their letters to Santa.

Each child will be given an activity book, sticker and crayons to remember their journey on the number 718.

Alongside the mini tours on the double-decker fleet, Heritage Tram Tours are also running an hour-long Illuminations tour and some open top single deck trams.

The illuminations tour will take its guests on a trip to Little Bispham and back during which they can enjoy the thousands of lights along the road.

The seafront also boasts a range of other Christmas activities to get involved with including:

  • A free ice rink
  • Snow slide
  • Light installations and projections
  • Artificial snowfall
  • Themed log cabins
  • Traditional Blackpool illuminations
  • Festive fairground rides

Although the mini festive tram tours end on 29 December, most of the other attractions remain open until 1January 2024.
