Shrewsbury Town vs Morecambe preview: Shrimps face Shrews in battle against the drop

Derek Adams’ side hit the road this weekend as they head to Shropshire to face Shrewsbury Town in League One action, reports LUKE WESTMORLAND.

The Shrimps sit fourth bottom, having found themselves back in the relegation zone after winning only one of their last eight games, a 1-0 win at the Mazuma Stadium against Port Vale in late February.

Back-to-back draws against Bolton Wanderers and Cambridge United in the last seven days have seen the Shrimps’ relegation worries reappear after Lancashire rivals Accrington Stanley moved out of the danger zone following a win against Forest Green Rovers.

Shrewsbury currently sit in ninth place, eight points away from the final playoff spot.

Following an excellent run of six wins in six games between January and February, the Salop have since faltered, only winning one of their last six games.

Form on the road doesn’t read well for Derek Adams’ side, having not won an away game in their last 16 attempts.

It promises to be a tough test with Steve Cotterill’s side in a rich vein of form on home turf after winning each of their last four games at Montgomery Waters Meadow.

The reverse fixture was a 0-0 draw between the two sides on the opening day of the season.

The game takes place at Montgomery Waters Meadows at 3pm on Saturday.
