Super League previews: Leigh Leopards host current champions St Helens in the pick of North West fixtures

Round Four of Super League got underway last night as Wigan Warriors were beaten 18-10 by unbeaten Catalans Dragons at the DW Stadium.

WIGAN trailed 12-2 at half time to the French side, and despite a try from Harry Smith, Warriors lost by eight as Catalans recorded their fourth win of the season to go top of the table.

ST HELENS are looking to bounce back from last week’s narrow 25-24 defeat to Leeds Rhinos, in the repeat of the 2022 Grand Final.

Paul Wellens will be without Konrad Hurrell, Curtis Sironen and Sione Mata’utia for the trip to LEIGH LEOPARDS, after all three picked up suspensions. However, captain James Roby returns to the 21-man squad for the first time this season.

Leigh picked up their first win since returning to Super League last time out, after a late Josh Charnley try saw Adrian Lam’s side record a 30-25 victory over Hull Kingston Rovers.

The hosts are expecting another bumper crowd for the game against the Super League champions, as they aim to make it back-to-back victories.

WARRINGTON WOLVES will be looking to go back to the top of the table tonight, after it was confirmed their trip to Hull KR will go ahead despite an early pitch inspection due heavy snowfall.

Warrington have won their first three matches of the campaign, after defeating Leeds, Huddersfield Giants and Salford Red Devils last time out.

Matty Nicholson has recovered from the shoulder injury he suffered in Round One to be in contention for the game, while Matty Russell is also fit again.

SALFORD will be aiming to end a run of two straight defeats when they travel to Hull FC tomorrow.

Despite winning their first match of the season at Leigh, the Red Devils have since lost to Hull KR and Warrington. In both matches Salford led at half time, but they were unable to hold on to the lead for two points.

Head coach Paul Rowley has named his 19-man squad for the fixture in Humberside, which includes Ryan Brierley and Ken Sio, who have combined for three tries in three matches.

However, Ollie Partington and star winger Joe Burgess will miss out through injury.

Salford have also confirmed Dan Sarginson has left the club with immediate effect.
