Preston’s Egg Rolling event will return this Easter

Preston’s Egg Rolling event will take place this year on April 10 in Avenham and Miller Park.

The annual event is a Preston tradition, which dates back over 150 years and attracts visitors from all over Lancashire.

Alongside the egg rolling, many other workshops and performances will be on show during the day.

Levantes Dance Theatre is a performance company attending the event, who will be putting on their show High Tea (With a Twist).

Eleni Edipidi, the Artistic Director of Levantes Dance Theatre, said: “We love spreading colour and spectacle in outdoor spaces and are very happy that this year we will be bringing our ‘High Tea (With a Twist)’ to Avenham and Miller Parks in Preston.”

Visitors will be invited to get involved with performances such as this throughout the day.

Those participating in the egg rolling, will be invited to roll their decorated eggs down the park’s hill every hour, with the event beginning at 11am.

The egg rolling began in Preston as a celebration of Easter Monday where children would gather and roll ‘pace-eggs’ (an egg hard boiled and wrapped in onion skin) down a hill.
